According to Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg's WorldTrade\Interactive newsletter, we can all breath a sigh of relief. The US and European Union have signed an agreement that will hopefully lead to them settling a dispute over the EU's banana imports. Apparently previous EU regulations led to discrimination against certain banana distributors. The EU has agreed to eliminate quotas, tariff rate quotas, and import licensing requirements for banana imports. I had no idea the banana trade was so intense! It turns out that the US isn't the only country that has a problem with the EU's banana trade regulations - Latin American countries aren't a fan either. Read the article to learn more. The Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) has issued a notice to inform importers of the policies and practices regarding the administration of the 10,000,000 kilogram per year tariff rate quota (TRQ) for milk protein substances. The notice applies to substances with a milk protein content of 85% or more by weight, calculated on the dry matter, that do not originate in a NAFTA country, Chile, Costa Rica, or Israel.

Brazil

Brazil has added a Tariff Rate Quota. The products affected by this are oseltamivir phosphate and medicines based on oseltamivir phosphate. The following HTS chapters are affected: 29 and 30.
