These courses are open to participants of all levels of expertise. Our methodology will quickly bring beginners to an experienced level and higher qualified classifiers to experts in this area.
The Advanced Classification workshops contains intensive study and practical exercises that will take your knowledge of the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI) to the next level. An in depth approach will be taken to ensure that participants are adequately trained to defend their questions and learn how to access and use Canadian Customs rulings, WCO rulings, Explanatory Notes, the Compendium. We also review Penalty cases analyze what went wrong and how do you avoid it?
For current Certified Classification Specialists™ (CCLS™) who enroll, this course will fulfill your annual re-certification requirements AND every CCLS™ holder is eligible to submit two product requests that may be used as part of the defense questions during the class. Who Should Attend:
The CCLS™ course is targeted at individuals and teams employed by logistics companies or global manufacturers who need to understand how to classify goods for import and export into and between multiple countries around the world.

Advanced Classification: Electronics, Parts, Machinery, and Accessories
This is a three day industry leading advanced course designed to address the issues facing machinery, parts and electronics importers and exporters. Focusing in on the General Rules of Interpretation (GRI) and using a unique methodology for defending your answers globally, participants will learn how to present and defend their HTS classification process with suppliers, related parties and Customs officials.

- General Rules of Interpretation and how to properly apply them
- Framework of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule
- Intensive review of HTS Chapters 84 and 85 including a detailed discussion of their key subheadings that cover electronics and machinery
- Review of relevant informed compliance publications for machinery, electronics and parts
- Machine product coverage of the mysterious HTS Heading 8479
- Electronics product coverage of the mysterious HTS Heading 8543
- Detailed review of section and chapter notes specific to the industries making or importing machinery and electronics

- The "problem" Chapter 84 and 85 headings for many importers of machinery and electronics

Advanced Classification of Textiles
This workshop addresses the issues facing importers and exporters of textiles. When is a T-Shirt a T-Shirt? Clarifying issues between 6109 and 6110 requires strong knowledge of the Section and Chapter notes and the definitions cited by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for proper classification. This is one example of the many issues facing textile classifiers and this course will bring to light how to properly classify within Section XI of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule.

Advanced Classification of Plastics and Rubber
This two-day course will provide of intensive interactive instruction and hands-on preparation involving the classification of plastics, rubber and intermediate and advanced products made from these two materials. This course explains key plastic and rubber terms, discusses current areas of concern involving their classification, and the treatment of such products by U.S. trading partners.

- Intensive review of the coverage of HTS Chapters 39 and 40
- Explanation of the production processes for plastic and rubber products

Advanced Classification: Chemicals
Join Amber Road’s Global Trade Academy at this industry leading advanced course on classifying Chemicals and Chemical Products. We will emphasize Chapters 28 through 40 of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule, with a heavy emphasis on the tariff classification of organic and inorganic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fragrances, soaps, fertilizers, dyes and a variety of other products primarily derived from chemicals and chemical compounds.
