We compiled their responses into a Q&A document - here is a sneak peek:

Last month, Amber Road broadcasted part one of our three-part Export Compliance Webinar Series, which focused on Restricted Party Screening. Our presenters, Scott Lewis and Scott Parker (both of Amber Road), got a lot of questions at the end of the webinar. Here are a few of their responses:

Commerzbank AG, the second-largest bank in Germany, is expected to pay $600-$800 million in fines as restitution to the U.S as a result of their dealings with Iran and other nations under U.S. sanctions. The U.S. started looking into Commerzbank back in 2010 and has since found that the bank took down identifying information from incoming wires in an attempt to hide anything that would raise questions.

Exporting can be a challenge for a company of any size, but it is especially daunting for small and medium-sized companies. Whether you are just starting out or trying to grow your exports, the question of how you’re doing compared to others is always one to consider. Export.gov crafted a short survey to highlight characteristics of successful exporters, as well as provide an assessment of your export readiness and suggest ways to improve your current export process. You can access that survey here.

Once you’ve taken this assessment, take action with the free Export Business Planner, a customizable tool for small businesses that are considering entering the export market. This tool will help you create a game plan and can be updated as your export business grows.

Since they were unable to answer of them during the live broadcast, we have posted all of their answers online. Here are a few highlights!

The U.S. Government has announced significant alterations to the export control guidelines for equipment, parts, components, software, related technology and services used in spacecraft and satellites. These adjustments come as a direct result of a change in jurisdiction from the Department of State’s International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) to the Department of Commerce’s Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The long-term goal of this shift is to reduce export compliance obligations, but the burden will fall on manufacturers and exporters up-front since they will be the ones re-evaluating the product classifications. Most of the changes will be implemented on November 10th of this year, but some will take place as early as June 27th. Although the long-term results will reduce U.S. government export controls with these kinds of goods, the short-term implications will include some significant constraints.
