Fifteen years of increased emphasis on bilateral free trade agreements by Asian governments has resulted in what many economists refer to as the “noodle bowl problem.” Opposed to creating an integrated set of trade rules, the Asian region is complicated by dozens of inconsistent bilateral agreements.
