Motivated to reduce costs via low cost country sourcing and grow revenues by tapping into foreign markets, global trade has become strategic for many companies. In order to capitalize on these opportunities, organizations must overcome a series of unique supply chain and regulatory compliance challenges. SCM World surveyed 114 senior supply chain leaders to better understand these challenges.
The results are presented in Managing Global Trade: Rising Importance but Lagging Execution. Highlights include:
Over 41% of the companies surveyed import more than half of their products internationally.
48% of respondents say that an inability to control global transportation costs and the lack of visibility of global shipments moving through the supply chain are a top challenge.
12% of respondents have automated their collaboration with global trade partners.
