Before signing with Amber Road, NPI had been using a combination of spreadsheets, wish lists, and a whole team of research elves to plan its supply chain.
North Pole Industries (NPI) needed to establish transparency, reliability, and control in its global supply chain, and selected Amber Road’s Supply Chain Visibility solution to provide real-time visibility into the status of wish lists, chimney accessibility, and toy manufacturing. After a successful implementation, NPI was able to track the location of toys’ raw materials on their way to the North Pole, as well as the delivery status of the final products.
“We had been using an antiquated system for years,” said Buddy the Elf, Head of Supply Chain Operations at NPI. “With just one reindeer-driven sleigh full of toys, our supply chain was being bogged down by logistical inefficiencies. Rudolph helped with visibility when we signed him on a few decades ago, but the market has changed a lot since then.”
Amber Road's software was easy to implement alongside existing visibility solutions, like NPI's Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (RRNR) system.
Santa, CEO of NPI, commented that the Restricted Party Screening solution has helped immensely with naughty lists, streamlining the list-checking process to ensure only nice little girls and boys are approved toy recipients. Additionally, the Import Management module has ensured that Santa’s sleigh never gets caught up in Customs again.To be more cost-efficient in the toy making process, NPI began to source parts and materials from countries like China and Brazil. Amber Road’s China Trade Management and Sourcing Optimization solutions became a tremendous asset.
